The 22 calibre 90 grain MatcKing was created in response to the increasing demands of Long Range shooters. With the success of the AR-15/M16 style rifles in Long Range competition, the need was felt to maximize the ballistic potential of these rifles. The 90 grain MatchKing® is the final product of a series of tests, covering both accuracy and exterior ballistics, to arrive at the best possible bullet for the Long Range competitor. Designed specifically for the .223 Remington / 5.56x45mm cartridge, the 90 MatchKing is at equally at home in both Match and Service Rifles. Due to the inherent requirements for a bullet of this type, the 90 grain MatchKing is intended for single loading, and is not intended to be fed from a magazine as the overall length of a loaded round will be too long.
Sierra recommends a 6.5” twist barrel for the #9290 22 calibre 90 gr HPBT bullet when pushed at muzzle velocities lower than 2650 fps. In cartridges like the Valkyrie with muzzle velocities above 2650 fps, a 1×7” twist barrel will stabilize the bullet correctly.
This is a 500 count box. A 50 count box of the 90 grain MatchKing is available here.
Sierra claim a G1 Ballistic Coefficient of .563 @ 2080 fps and above .550 between 1640 and 2080 fps .480 between 1640 and below.
